Gymbaroo!

I've been taking you to Gymbaroo for about 4 months now and you've graduated from the non-mobile babies to the mobile babies class.

You get to crawl around and interact with all the other movers and shakers, which you love. You are a little bit grabby with some of the kids and I have to pry your fingers from shirts, pants and bibs. I know that you are just showing affection and interest, but your grubby little hands are strong!

Here are a few photos from this week (don't mind the funny look on your face, I took the picture quickly before class started so I didn't get a chance to make sure I got a good one!)..

How cute is your little bib with your name on it?

I think Gymbaroo is one of my favourite times of the week. We get to learn all about motor development, and you get to play on all of the fun equipment. You love the "Hello" song the most, because I think you realise it signifies the beginning of a fun day.

You are an active little boy, so Gymbaroo and you are a match made in heaven. You are usually asleep in your carseat before I have even reached the end of the street. Mama gets a good workout too - there is loads of dancing together and lifting you up up up! I love this fun time together - no other distractions. Just you and me baby boy.

Swimming!

Yesterday, it was HOT! So we went for a little visit to Grandma and Granda's house for a swim in their pool.

You went in nude - as is the norm for you.

You had a blast helping Mama throw the ball to Grandma, and you were extra proud when you sat on the step, all by yourself!

We slathered you in sunscreen so your lily white skin didn't sizzle in the sun. You tend to rip your hat off your head and throw it, so we make sure and put extra sunscreen on your bald little noggin.

Your next swim may just be in Jervis Bay because we are driving down tomrrow to visit your Nanny and Pop!

Ah, my little water babe... it will be a fun, swimmy summer with you!

Guess who we met today!

You kinda loved him...

The little things...

I start to realise that you are not a teeny tiny baby anymore, simply by seeing this big boy smile. You still have the wide open mouth grin sometimes, but more and more you are smiling like a big boy.

My word that daddy of yours loves you.

November 26th and 27th

Baby boy, if it's possible, your mama fell even more in love with you this weekend. Summer has arrived and after the yucky, rainy weather that we've had lately, it was like you had a whole new lease on life.

On Saturday morning, mama got a call from Aunty Sarah - she was going to try on the wedding dress that she was going to buy and wanted to know if I'd come along... Mama was so excited - but worried about you! You and Daddy were going to hang out together all morning and then meet me at cousin Michael's housewarming party. You are beginning to have fewer and fewer breast feeds, but I wasn't sure if you'd last until I saw you again - but apparently you could! Daddy said you were an angel all morning and by the time I arrived at the party, you were entertaining the crowd with your shaky leg dancing and killer smiles.

Poppy held you for the very first time too! He waggled his false teeth for you, just like he used to for Daddy - you LOVED it.

It was a huge amount of fun for you - you loved the attention you were getting and everyone was very impressed at how much you are growing up.

Your evening bath was fun, as usual. But this time, you tried something new... instead of laying on your mat and kicking your legs in the air, you decided to watch your bath fill up.

I mean, come ON! Look at that toosh!

On Sunday morning, you woke for your first feed of the day at around 5:30am. Mama brought you into bed with her and Daddy and we snuggled for a few more hours. At one stage Mama placed her hand on your chest and Daddy placed his on top and we just laid there listening to you coo and chirp, signifying that sleep-time was over... it was time to start the day!

Mama got up with you and we had a play while Daddy had a bit more sleep. You ate your whole breakfast of cereal and blueberries and then had a bit of banana and pear (your favourite!).

Once Daddy got up, he made he and Mama's breakfast - a yummy veggie juice.. which you shared with us by eating the froth off a spoon. Tomorrow we may even put some in a sippy cup for you!

We drove to the Baby market that is held every once in a while - Mama was keen to buy you some cute clothes - but there was mainly little girl clothes! So we cut our losses and went for a drive around Newcastle to look at all of the old houses instead while you snoozed in the back.

We had a yummy lunch at the Japanese restaurant. It's Mama and Daddy's favourite type of food and hopefully you will learn to love it too. If today was any indication, you will! As well as your carrot and cheddar mash, you at half of Mama's rice (off her chopsticks, no less!)...

On the way home, we stopped to get the last of the christmas presents for the year (super organised!) and Daddy carried you around so we didn't have to get the ginormous pram out of the car. By the time we got back to the car, you were so exhausted that you fell asleep BEFORE Daddy even buckled you in! Unheard of my darling boy - you are normally a wiggly worm who hates to be strapped in..

Once we got home, we put up the christmas tree... our first christmas tree as a family.

 You loved helping Mama.

I think we may have to watch you with the tree though - you were very quick to grab one of the baubles  off the tree and put it straight in your mouth..

Daddy helped you hang your very own ornament.

Oh, and what's this? The first present under the tree...

After the exhausting afternoon, we put you in your play pen to have a bit of a play while Mama cooked your dinner. I came in to find you like this:

Just chilling out (I think you were a bit stuck).

You have a love/hate relationship with that play pen. We bought it for you to keep you (and the electrical appliances within your reach) safe while we are out of the room for any reason. You.are.FAST. And inquisitive. And strong. I love these things about you, but now that you can pull yourself to a stand pretty easily, nothing is safe from your grasp. And the climbing. Oh, the climbing.

It started with the box of nappies... then we watched you attempt the stairs.. and you know, had you not had slippery socks on, you would have been able to get up. Of that I am sure. Otherwise, your favourite thing to climb is us!

Anyway - your playpen... Mama put a mirror in there the other day and caught you making out with yourself.

Most times, you keep yourself occupied when Mama is running around doing chores.. you especially love your musical instruments... and the bam bam of your drum.

While you chilled out in your playpen, Mama made a batch of baby bolognese with loads of vegies and some beef. We have lots frozen now! Yummy!

You enjoyed your dinner while bopping away to The Beatles. Daddy fed you some, and then you fed yourself! Messy stuff.

We also caught this little gem :)

And you got to practice one of your favourite things ever - touching things with your pointer finger. (We often get a finger up the nose or in our ears.

You also love to stand, and will show off at any opportunity.

And you now love your Jolly Jumper (we were thinking that you'd never like it).

Blurry pictures - you move too fast!!

What a great weekend we had with you baby boy, you are now winding down to go to sleep - hopefully all night! Sweet dreams

An oldie but a goodie.. This is when you first started belly laughing... now we can't stop you from giggling at everything.. Oh, you were so little! (And don't mind mummy's PJ's... tres chic!)

Sleep, glorious sleep!

Well, it's almost 8pm here and you are sound asleep! This is notable! Only 10 days ago, your bedtime was 10:30pm (not our choice - yours!) and I fed you to sleep. You would sleep for about 3 hours and then wake pretty much every hour or so after that and I'd feed you to sleep, again and again...

Now? We can put you down anytime from 6-7pm and you'll fuss for about 10-20 minutes, then fall asleep. Tonight, you fussed for only 3 minutes and then fell asleep on your side, just like a big person! You'll wake only once during the night (any time between 12 and 5am) for a quick feed and then back to sleep until about 6:30. Sometimes I can get you back down until 8:30.. but that's pretty rare.

So you can see, sweet boy, that you gave me and your daddy the run-around for quite some time! Now we have you sleeping like a champion and we feel a little silly that we waited so long to teach you how.

Today was an eventful day! You and I were in our first car accident.. it may have been my fault, but it was very, very minor and I really just felt a bit silly. It didn't help that the other lady was a bit of a meanie on the phone afterwards... but I killed her with kindness and she ended up coming around. Needless to say: rain + fussy baby + trying to dial a number on phone + chatting to your grandma and aunty + a slow moving green light = a bit of a rear ender... ooops!

How about another cute picture?
It hasn't stopped raining for almost a week! We want to go out and play!

Well hello there my sweet boy,

Herein lies my letters to you about our life :)

This blog idea has been borrowed from a friend from way back! Her little one, Lola, is only a little bit older than you. Her adventures are at Dear Lola. It's a great read - they sure get up to some fun stuff.

My plan is to write about you; your milestones, your holidays, your playdates, your activities and your life in general. I'll include lots of pictures of your cute, chubby cheeks and hopefully build a scrapbook that you will one day read and realise the enormity of the love that your daddy and I have for you.

I love you, my wee boy

xoxo Mama
Our first picture together - you even came out cute!
